On Oregon Arts & Culture Advocacy Day, April 19, 2023, representatives of local arts organizations boarded the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts' Oregon Coast Art Bus and headed to Salem to be seen and heard. Niki Price of the Lincoln City Cultural Center, Jason Holland of the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, Lisa Lipton of Newport Symphony Orchestra, and Darcy Hogan Lawrence of Red Octopus Theatre Company all came together to advocate for Oregon's vibrant cultural community and to work to ensure that arts and culture in Oregon continue to thrive.

The group met with Rep. David Gomberg (pictured) and other elected officials to remind them of the importance and value of the arts and continuing needs for financial support. Advocates from across Oregon also met together to discuss collective priorities, to receive advocacy training, to hear from special guests, and refine impact stories.

You play a huge part in arts advocacy every day. Ticket revenue covers only 1/3 of the cost of Newport Symphony's concerts and programs. We rely on generous support from donors like you to make up the difference in funding our concerts and music education programs. If you have a spare bedroom, hosting a musician during rehearsal and concert weekends also makes a big difference. Click to learn more: How to Help
